Backerkit is ready! Smoke Test initiated!

Happy Friday, everyone!

We hope you had a great Halloween and are staying warm... the temperatures have dropped in the past week and daylight savings ends this weekend... we are NOT looking forward to it getting dark at 4:30... 😫

But we've had plenty to keep us busy indoors as of late, including getting the Backerkit setup for MIDNIGHT ORDER. We're happy to announce that THE SMOKE TEST HAS BEGUN!

For those of you not familiar with Backerkit or the "Smoke Test" process, it is a small batch of surveys (about 5% of the total) that are randomly selected and sent in advance of the rest in order to catch any unexpected technical issues or questions that come up. If you are one of those randomly selected 5%, you may have already received your notification and link from Backerkit by email. The rest of you will likely get yours later this weekend. Backerkit suggests we wait 24 hours or until 75% of those Smoke Test surveys are complete to make sure everything is running smoothly before sending out the rest. So, assuming everything is working as expected, we'll send the rest of the surveys before Monday. 😊

Note: If you use a @privaterelay.appleid.com email address (ie. you registered for Kickstarter using your iPhone or other iOS device), then you will need to contact us with an alternate email address that we can use to manually update your Backerkit account. Backerkit has trouble sending messages to privaterelay email accounts, so that is something you will need to help us fix.

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask! The books are going to the printer next week and we're excited to see what they do with the slipcase and the embedded coin. 😎 This printer is very experienced with fancy design engineering like this, so we're confident it will be AWESOME.

Hey everyone!

WOW! When we started this campaign, we had a feeling people loved Mathieu Bablet's work, but this really goes to show how much that's true! Thank you, 1,119 backers for your ALMOST $70,000 worth of funding! Plus, we were able to unlock ALL SIX Stretch Goals, so those of you (physical backers) who were after that beautiful "Death's Head" moth pin, get ready, because it's coming your way! 

Now that the campaign is over, we'll get the graphic novel to the printers and get those sweet sweet stretch goals in the works, prepare the digital files, and all the other goodies that are coming your way. Rest assured, just like you, we cannot wait to get these beautiful books in our hands, and will work diligently to keep you up-to-date and to get this campaign fulfilled as soon as we possibly can!

We'll get the Backerkit up and running in the next 10 days or so, which should be enough time for Kickstarter to finish their bit of collection. If you have any issues with your payment method, they'll reach out to you. If you need to discuss any special arrangements, please feel free to message us and we'll see how we can help.

Two Days and One Stretch Goals to Go!

Hello Backers!

We're nearing the final stretch of THE MIDNIGHT ORDER campaign and it's been a ton of fun to see how much love this campaign has been getting! We have some huge news, too! First,  we just broke the $55,000 stretch goal! Now ALL hard cover editions will have Printed Gilding! If you're unfamiliar with the term, that is a special process in which the edges of the pages are printed with a material (often a shiny foil) or, in this case, a color pattern. It should look something like this when all is done:

But the good news doesn't stop there, we've been able to confirm that the Slipcase Bookplates will now be SIGNED by Mathieu Bablet! We're beyond excited that those fancy, limited edition, numbered bookplates will now be even MORE collectiblePhotoshop!

Now, we can reveal the FINAL  stretch goal to help push everyone who may be sitting on the fence OVER the fence! Some of you eagle-eyed backers may even have noticed that it has already been posted directly into the campaign, but without further ado, the LAST stretch goal is...

The Golden "Death's Head" Moth Pin!

And holy moly is this pin gorgeous! Check out the mock-up below of the $65,000 stretch goal pin! 

If you're curious what these will look like in physical production, we've made a few for previous campaigns -- take a look at some actual photos of how nicely those turned out:

$65k may seem like a fair distance to cross in just 2 days, but we've seen it happen! So get out there and share far and wide to make these last two days count!

New Stretch Goal Unlocked!

Hey all! Mitch here - 

It's only been a day since our last update, but we've now unlocked the first FOUR Stretch Goals! Ribbon Bookmarks and bookplates are now included with ALL Hardcovers, and ALL PHYSICAL PLEDGES include a sticker set and Foil Tarot Card! Now to announce the next stretch goal...

 PRINTED GILDING ON ALL HARDCOVERS! (Not just the slipcase editions)

(Look at how awesome that is!)

We're pretty excited about this new type of gilding as, first, we LOVE gilding on our books, and two, this printed gilding takes it to an entirely new level of premium format! 

All right, that's it, tomorrow is Friday the 13th and we're all trying to decide which horror movie/s we'll be watching (I'm thinking I'm going to try and finish The Last Voyage of the Demeter... ). Be sure to sound off in the comments and let us know what you're recommendations are!

A Great Start and a Look Forward!

Hello Magnetic Press Community,

This update is coming to you from Mitch, I'm sorta' new here at Magnetic Press, but I've been a HUGE fan of MP since I first backed Aster of Pan on Kickstarter years ago! So I'm like you, but now I have responsibilities.

Anyway... let's get to the real update!

Holy cow, we've torn through the original goal and are all the way through the (currently announced) stretch goals! It's been magical to watch the enthusiasm for this campaign, and once the next stretch goal is unlocked (Bonus Foil Tarot Card), we'll announce the next set of goals to help push this campaign as far as we can. Be sure to share it with everyone you know to help get the word out!

We love Mathieu Bablet and his library of work, so when we got to read THE MIDNIGHT ORDER, we knew we had to bring it to you all. Honestly, I didn't think that a slipcase edition could look this gorgeous, but here we are. Printed gilding, embedded collector's coin, foil embossing, bound-in ribbon bookmark. The team really went all out on this, and all of us are just as excited to get this in our hands as you are!

Oh, and in case you're wondering, we modeled this edition based on the colors and gold foil on the French edition, so I've included a couple of photos to help you visualize what we're going for with this edition. Check it out!

What's Next?

So you may be asking yourself, what's next for the campaign? We're currently in that "middle of the campaign lull" where not much happens, it's sort of like the Kickstarter Witching Hour... we slowly inch along a few backers at a time, so SHARE SHARE SHARE! Then, the last few days is when the magic really happens, and all the people who've been watching and thinking finally jump on board. So until those last few days, we will continue to push from our side, but we also need the community's help: share on your stories, your posts, your reels, threads, or even in real life while you're playing tabletop games with your friends! (have you tried out Carbon Grey yet?)

I believe that covers it. The campaign has been spectacular, it's now the mid-campaign lull, you've unlocked THREE stretch goals with plenty more to go, and last but certainly not least, THANK YOU. Thank you all for being an amazing community and supporting this project!
